Debuting back on January 16th on the Syfy channel and working through the final few episodes of the season, Syfy has announced that Twelve Monkeys has gotten a second season renewal and will return in 2016. The series is one that had a lot going against it because of the love of the film from fans, but as it’s progressed it’s managed to find a decent voice for itself. The show is averaging about 1.5 million viewers while getting a huge DVR boost of an average of 104% in the live+3.
“We are absolutely committed to 12 Monkeys, and have been incredibly impressed by the outstanding critical and audience praise the series has earned,” said Syfy president Dave Howe. Added Jeff Wachtel, President and Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, “12 Monkeys is a show that has exceeded expectations at every stage. It’s had a great first season creatively, and is building a dedicated audience.”
12 Monkeys stars Aaron Stanford (Nikita, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2), Amanda Schull (Suits, Pretty Little Liars), Noah Bean (Nikita, Damages) and Kirk Acevedo.
Plot concept: The series follows the journey of a time traveler (Stanford) from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.
