It’s been a weird couple of weeks for the folks at Madman Entertainment when it comes to the original Sailor Moon series. They originally announced that they acquired the home video and streaming rights for the original series (and Crystal) back in November 2014. They then set an April 15th, 2015 release date early this year for the first set to come out, DVD only, priced at $49.99 AUD for it. The release was also supposed to get a limited edition release alongside it, which was going to have a collectors box, a deluxe booklet and a collector’s coin, but that listing was removed not long afterwards. Now it looks like the set as a whole has been pushed back until some undetermined date:
We regret to inform that due to circumstances beyond our control, our upcoming release of Sailor Moon Part 1 will be delayed until further notice. Whilst we understand many of you will be disappointed by this news, be assured that this is not a decision made lightly and with the end goal to deliver fans a great product, first and foremost. Thanks for your patience and understanding, and stay tuned for a revised date in the near future.
The DVD release was set to have some on-disc extras on it including the clean opening and closing, artwork galleries and the behind the scenes material for the English language dub.
Plot concept: Usagi Tsukino is a cheerful 14-year-old schoolgirl who often finds herself in unwanted trouble. One day, she saves a talking cat named Luna from some mean kids, and her life is changed forever. Luna gives Usagi a magic brooch that transforms her into Sailor Moon, defender of love and justice! Now Usagi must work with Luna to find the other Sailor Guardians and the Moon Princess, whose Legendary Silver Crystal is Earth’s only hope against the dark forces of the evil Queen Beryl!
