With seventeen years worth of manga during the original run, ATASHIn’CHI had a solid TV anime adaptation that ran for 330 episodes between 2002 and 2009. With the manga from Eiko Kera ending back in 2012, citing the uncertainty of where to go with it due to now being older than the adult characters, and also citing a changed perspective following 2011 earthquake, Kera is now back with some new material and a new anime adaptation. The new series is going by the name of Shin ATASHIn’CHI with plans for an Animax debut in the future with Kera writing new stories for it. The voice cast from the previous work is coming back for more adventures with the family as well.
