While the summer 2014 series has come and gone, there’s still a little bit new around the corner for Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun. The home video releases are coming with some bonus mini OVAs on them and now some images from the fourth volume, set for a December 24th, 2014 release, have arrived that show off the beach episode. Media Factory began releasing the series on September 24th, 2014 across six volumes. Both formats are listed as limited edition releases with the Blu-ray’s priced at 7,344 yen each and the DVDs at 6,264 yen each. The first volume came with a bonus CD with character songs and four illustration cards. It’s expected to largely be similar across all volumes. On disc extras include a mini OVA, an audio commentary and the clean version of the opening sequence alongside the usual promotional videos/trailers.
The series, based on the manga by Izumi Tsubaki (creator of Oresama Teacher), is animated by Dogakobo. It’s directed by Mitsue Yamazaki based on scripts and composition by Yoshiko Nakamura and character designs by Junichiro Taniguchi. The original four panel web manga began in the summer of 2011 and is ongoing with four published volumes to date.
Plot concept: Sakura Chiyo is a highschool student who has a crush on a schoolmate named Nozaki-kun. One day, she confessed her love to him but he mistook her as a fan. Things starts to get complicated when Nozaki-kun invites her to come to his house only to find his secret: he is a shōjo manga artist. Sakura then decides to be Nozaki-kun’s assistant in order to get closer to him. She later gets acquintanced with Nozaki’s other assistants who are all no strangers to Sakura. The story revolves around the making of Nozaki’s manga Let’s Love~ and everyday situations happen around the characters.
