Second ‘To Love Ru Darkness’ Anime Series Set For Summer 2015

Second ‘To Love Ru Darkness’ Anime Series Set For Summer 2015 We learned back in December 2014 that a second season was coming for the third series of the To Love Ru property with To Love Ru Darkness and now a little more information has surfaced. While this iteration aired back in 2012, it looks like the second series for it is set to debut in the summer of 2015 as a number of trade show banners for it have shown up at AnimeJapan 2015. The new series will be called To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness 2nd and the first key visual for it from December is available to the right. Check out the trade show banners in the tweet below!

The original staff is coming back as well with it Atsushi Ootsuki directing it at Xebec with Yuichi Oka on character designs.

The cast includes Aki Toyosaki as Momo Belia Deviluke, Misato Fukuen as Golden Darkness, Yuka Iguchi as Mea Kurosaki, Akeno Watanabe as Rito Yūki, Haruka Tomatsu as Lala Satalin Deviluke, Sayuri Yahagi as Haruna Sairenji, Kanae Itō as Nana Astar Deviluke, Kana Hanazawa as Mikan Yūki, Kaori Nazuka as Yui Kotegawa, Ryoka Yuzuki as Risa Momioka & Celine, Satomi Arai as Peke, Mamiko Noto as Oshizu and Rina Hidaka as Mea’s Master.

Property concept: As close encounters of the twisted kind between the residents of the planet Deviluke (represented primarily by the female members of the royal family) and the inhabitants of Earth (represented mainly by one very exhausted Rito Yuuki) continue to escalate, the situation spirals even further out of control.

When junior princesses Nana and Momo transferred into Earth School where big sister Lala can (theoretically) keep an eye on them, things SHOULD be smooth sailing. But when Momo decides she’d like to “supplement” Rito’s relationship with Lala with a little “sisterly love,” you know Lala’s not going to waste any time splitting harems.

Unfortunately, it’s just about that point that Yami, the Golden Darkness, enters the scene with all the subtleness of a supernova, along with an army of possessed high school students! All of which is certain to make Rito’s life suck more than a black hole at the family picnic. Unless, of course, a certain semi-demonic princess can apply a little of her Devilukean Whoop Ass to exactly that portion of certain other heavenly bodies!

Warner Bros. Japan Highlights ‘Wixoss’ & ‘Terra Formars’ Anime Music Releases

Warner Bros. Japan Highlights ‘Wixoss’ & ‘Terra Formars’ Anime Music Releases Warner Bros. Japan is working their anime channel on YouTube pretty well for promotion these days and they’re now getting a little more out there for a pair of upcoming CD releases for titles that they distribute the anime form.

The first is the music video short to promote the opening song from selector spread WIXOSS that’s performed by Kanon Wakeshima. It clocks in at 90 seconds but lets you get the TV sized version of the song as well as a look at music video. That’s getting an October 15, 2014 C single release as well as a CD/DV release for those that want the music video and bonus materials as well.

They’re also doing the sound sampling for a pair of upcoming Terra Formars CD releases. Both releases are set for a November 12th, 2014 release where the opening and ending songs get their own CDs. The opening theme CD has the full song, the TV sized version and the instrumental version for Amazing Break by Terraspex. The ending theme CD is laid out the same way with Lightning, also by Terraspex.

‘Otaku no Video’ Anime Kickstarter Closes

‘Otaku no Video’ Anime Kickstarter Closes AnimEigo’s Kickstarter project for Otaku no Video ended on June 25th, 2015 and did some boffo business as it ended with 1509 backers that raised $102, 869 for the release. With a $40,000 goal to achieve the overall project funding, suffice to say that lots of things will be done with it and AnimEigo will be updating along the way regularly with it. While the Kickstarter campaign has ended, AnimEigo does continue to take separate orders for it from people who want to get in on it late via Paypal. This just means you can’t get some of the special goals that were set up as incentives. But you can visit their page for it and pick up the basic, premium or SMOO sets and still add to the overall crowdfunding budget. So don’t despair if yo missed the crowdfunding phase of it because you can still get in on it.

For reference, last December’s new Japanese release, priced at 5,800 yen, included a new audio commentary that brings in Kikuko Inoue, Shoji Murahama, Hiroyuki Yamaga and Yuki Sato. There was also a booklet and a video slideshow that brings out a number of cels and a LaserDisc version trailer included for the two original releases. AnimEigo’s edition would be using the transfer for this release with theirs.

Plot concept: Somewhat based on the real story of how Gainax was founded, Otaku no Video addresses all aspects of an otaku lifestyle. Ken Kubo is a young man living an average life until he is dragged into a group of otaku. Slowly, he becomes more like them until he decides to abandon his former life to become king of otaku —the otaking!

Mixed in are live-action interviews with real otaku, addressing every aspect of hardcore otaku life. Not only are anime and manga fans included, but also sci-fi fans, military fans, and other groups of Japanese geeks.

Neill Blomkamp Talks His ‘Alien’ Project

Neill Blomkamp Talks His ‘Alien’ Project With Fox having gotten on board relatively quickly to bring a new Alien film to life after there was considerable buzz with director Neill Blomkamp’s promotion of his concept art for a film, it’s no surprise that Blomkamp is talking even more about it. He’s out doing press for his new film Chappie, which opens next month, and since it has Sigourney Weaver in it and the two are out there, they’re both providing some interesting takes on it.

For Blomkamp, we’re now hearing that they’re largely going to try and erase the third and fourth film and just move forward in a post-Aliens kind of way, which isn’t a surprise and has been something most fans have wanted for some time, even those with a strong affection for Alien 3 in its director’s cut form.

“I want this film to feel like it is literally the genetic sibling of Aliens, so it’s Alien, Aliens and then this film.”

While we’ve seen some decent films from Blomkamp so far, the chance to do something a little different from those works is here for him when he talks about the tone and atmosphere of the film.

“It’s a Freudian nightmare. That element to me is what is so appealing; to put the audience on the edge of their seat the whole time in a traditional, monster-stalking-you, dark-corridor-way. I love that. And then when you mix in all of the deign elements and the life cycle of the alien, it’s a powder keg of creativity for me.”

Sigourney Weaver for her part is looking at this as a chance to try and end her involvement in the franchise in a positive note.

“I would love to take Ripley out of sort of orbiting around in space and give a proper finish to what was such an excellent story. So when someone like Neill Blomkamp said, ‘Well, I’m interested in finishing the story,’ my little ears perked up… I think it’s a great series. It deserves a proper ending—I know the fans would love that.”

‘Insurgent’ Gets Pre-Game Super Bowl Trailer

‘Insurgent’ Gets Pre-Game Super Bowl Trailer The Super Bowl isn’t truly high profile for movies to get out there with, but we often see a few TV spots included within the game itself and sometimes a bit more for the pre-game shows, where it’s not quite as pricey. Lionsgate is going that route to promote Insurgent, the sequel to Divergent. We got our full trailer awhile ago, but the new spot, clocking in at just under 90 seconds, goes for a more visual eye-catching approach in order to get viewers to focus on it, which in some cases may work rather well even if it doesn’t explore a lot of what the movie itself is like.

With the sequel, the directors chair has changed with Robert Schwentke coming in and the film definitely looks like it’ll benefit from it, especially as the locales are changing and we’re getting something a bit more wide ranging here.

Directed by Robert Schwentke, the film stars Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer, Theo James, Ashley Judd, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson, Mekhi Phifer, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Zoë Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb, Christian Madsen and Amy Newbold. The films are based on the novels by Veronica Roth.

Insurgent is set to debut on March 20th, 2015. Allegiant parts 1 & 2, are slated for release on March 18, 2016 and March 24, 2017, respectively.

Plot concept: INSURGENT raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the dystopian ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris (Woodley) and Four (James) are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world.
