Japanese distributor TOHO is handling the promotion for the summer 2015 anime series Himouto! Umaru-chan for the show itself but also for the upcoming CD release. Due out on August 19th, 2015, they’ve got a look at the ending theme CD that’s coming out, priced at 1,200 yen. The release brings the two main songs as well as the instrumental versions of them for fans as the cast sing in character for it. The promo for it clocks in at three minutes and gives you a very, very good sampling of the music to encourage you to add it to your collection.
The series has gotten picked up for home video release by Sentai Filmworks, which is adding their own digital distribution to it, and Crunchyroll is streaming the series in the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand), France, Germany and Benelux, Latin America, Scandinavia, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Middle East and North Africa.
The anime adaptation of SankakuHead’s manga series is directed by Masahiko Ohta based on the scripts by Takashi Aoshima along with character designs by Aya Takano and animated at Dogakoba. Ohta, Aoshima and sound director Yasunori Ebina all worked together on Yuruyuri and a few of them on Kotoura-san.
The main cast includes Aimi Tanaka as Umaru Doma, Yurina Furukawa as Sylphynford Tachibana, Haruka Shiraishi as Kirie Motoba, Akari Kageyama as Nana Ebina, Kenji Nojima as Taihei Doma, Tetsuya Kakihara as Alex, Hiroki Yasumoto as Bonba and Ami Koshimizu as Kano.
The original manga series has six volumes to its name so far. That property has been running since 2013 in Weekly Young Jump.
Plot concept: The sibling gag comedy manga centers around Umaru, Taihei’s little sister who boasts beautiful looks as well as prowess in both school and sports; however, “Himouto” (beautiful little sister) has a certain secret.
