When it comes to special episodes it’s always best to think that they won’t be simulcast until we’re told that they are so as to stave off any disappointment. While FUNimation stepped up earlier in the week to announce that they would be simulcasting it, Crunchyroll has now down the same for the special. The special has a slotted two hour run time and while we do plan to cover it, it’ll probably be later in the week due to that run time. Crunchyroll will be streaming it to audiences in the United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America with the exact time probably showing up close to when FUNimation is doing it, which is around 2am Sunday morning.
The work has had its theme song artist revealed recently with Goodbye holiday slated to perform their new song Liberator for it and you get a good taste of it throughout each of the spots.
The special is going to capitalize on the return of Sabo to the series recently in the Dressrosa arc. While details are still a bit slim overall, the official channel has previously revealed the key visual for the work and confirmed that it will be called Episode of Sabo: The Three Brothers’ Bond – The Miraculous Reunion and the Inherited Will, which keeps it in line with the previous specials of this nature.
Plot concept: Explore the childhood bond between Luffy, Ace and Sabo as they aspired to become pirates. The TV special will introduce an original story (not shown in the anime or manga) told through Sabo’s perspective of his visit to the grave of Whitebeard and Ace, infiltration of Dressrosa and reunion with Luffy.
