There was a lot of drama when it came to the directing of Ant-Man with Edgar Wright leaving the project and then Peyton Reed coming in as Paul Rudd and Adam McKay were doing rewrites. With the sequel set for July 6th, 2018 with Ant-Man and the Wasp, there’s certainly some curiosity as to who would direct it. Marvel doesn’t go too often for the same director for a property, though with the slightly different sensibilities of this one, much as Guardians of the Galaxy is its own beast, there’s definitely some appeal in seeing Peyton Reed get the chance to come back and really be involved from the grnd up.
Now THR is reporting that this may indeed be the case. With the film having the third highest Marvel opening in China earlier this month and it crossing the $450 million line worldwide, it makes sense to stick with what worked, albeit in a likely smoother fashion. Having absolutely loved his work with Down with Love, here’s hoping we can sneak in a real 60′s sequence with this one.
