Viz Media continues to plunder the upcoming fall catalog a bit with their acquisitions as they’ve announced the pickup of K: Return of Kings. The series, which is set to debut in October 2015, was considered a lock in general as Viz Media released the first season previously. Since the show hasn’t come anywhere near being out, there’s obviously no details, but it’s pretty much a lock for a simulcast once again when the fall hits as well.
The original series is getting a rebroadcast this summer in Japan beginning on July 3rd with new episodes every Friday.
The new season is set to be directed by Shingo Suzuki, who will also serve as character designer, and GoHands will produce the animation. Suzuki isn’t unfamiliar with the property, having directed the first season and the film. The property had new material coming out at the end of December 2014 with the sequel manga from Yui Kuroe, that picks up after the film, but how connected that will be to the larger anime universe remains to be seen.
Viz Media has released the TV series on DVD/BD in North America after providing it with an English language dub.
