Kazé Deutschland has added another new license to their spring season acquisition slate and have also planned for the home video release by setting a spring 2016 debut for High School DxD BorN. The company has picked up both DVD and Blu-ray rights as well as VOD for it. The series will be directed by Tatsuya Yanagisawa, who directed the previous season, based on series composition by Takao Yoshioka and character designs by Junji Goto. The main cast are all returning for the new season as well.
The first two seasons came relatively quickly with the first debuting in 2012 and the second hitting in 2013. FUNimation has released both of those on DVD/BD in North America and has rights for this new season as well.
The light novel series began in 2008 and has seventeen volumes to its name so far. A manga adaptation kicked off in 2010 with the main run of it having four volumes, but there are a few spinoffs as well. Yen Press has picked up the main manga as well as the first spinoff from 2012. A 3DS visual novel game was released at the end of 2013 in Japan as well.
Franchise concept: A war between heaven and hell is raging on Earth – and a hot mess of hormonal fury is raging in Issei’s pants. The guy is dying to get some action. Which is funny, since his first date ever turns into a winged monster and tries to kill him. Fortunately, ridiculously curvy redhead Rias comes to his rescue. She’s president of The Occult Research Club, a club that doesn’t actually research the occult. They ARE the occult – and Rias is a Devil.
Rias takes Issei as a more-than-willing slave and begins training him to use magic in battle against the Fallen Angels, the long-time enemies of Devils everywhere. If Issei can improve his mystical skills, he’ll be able to help his hotter-than-hell master and her scorching supernatural schoolgirl friends defeat their foes. Even better, he might end up with a few sexy slaves of his own.
