Maiden Japan Shows Off ‘Vampire Princess Miyu’ Tentative Anime DVD Cover

Maiden Japan Shows Off ‘Vampire Princess Miyu’ Tentative Anime DVD Cover With the release set for March 29th, 2016, there’s going to be some likely tweaks at the least for the Vampire Princess Miyu TV collection on DVD from Maiden Japan. Sometimes it’s just a little nudge on a logo or some background pieces as well as a DVD logo or something, but sometimes it’s a wholesale change. With this tentative one we’re hoping that it mostly sticks since it’s a nice change of pace from past incarnations.

Priced at $49.99, it’ll bring out the twenty-six episode series in its original Japanese with the previously produced English language dub. On disc extras include the clean opening and closing sequences.

Based on the manga by Narumi Kakinouchi and Toshiki Hirano, the original work ran for ten volumes between 1988 and 2002. A four-part OVA series was produced in 1988 that AnimEigo released while the 1997 TV series was licensed by TOKYOPOP years ago and they produced the dub for it. MVM Films holds the UK rights to it while Madman Entertainment has the Australian rights.

Plot concept: She may use the name Miyu Yamano when dealing with mortals, but the truth is that not even Miyu knows who she really is. What is certain is that she was born of Vampire and Human; the human half granting her the ability to walk by day, while her craving for the blood of the living brands her forever as a creature of the night.

Now, together with her sole companion, the Shinma known as Larva, she exists in the twilight realm where the worlds of light and shadow overlap, trapped in the body of a teenager forever. Her task: to serve as Mankind’s last defense against the forces of Darkness. To hunt down those who would seek to harm the human race, and to cast them back into the depths from which they came. Prepare to stalk the night as the death-dance of undead predator and prey begins in the complete collection of the anime classic Vampire Princess Miyu!
